Chelsea Kay Shrum
Chelsea graduated from Southern Alamance High School in Graham in May of 2008 and will be attending UNC-Greensboro in the Fall of 2008. Her career objective is to be a Pediatric Physical Therapist. Chelsea’s stepfather was injured on the job in November of 2000 working for a company in North Carolina as a delivery salesman. He is diagnosed with multilevel degenerative disc disease and has undergone a spinal fusion and has not been able to return to work. Chelsea has lived with her stepfather and mother since 1994 and her stepfather has been the primary support of her family. Chelsea maintained a 3.26 average while working at a local gym and a clothing store to help with family finances. Chelsea’s mother has melanoma and also suffers from an acute anxiety disorder. In support of Chelsea’s application, one of her teachers wrote, “she has great potential and deserves the opportunity to pursue her career goals. Your financial investment in Chelsea would reap big returns in producing a productive worker and community leader. Back to Scholarships |
