Michael "Chad" Moody
Chad is a 2007 graduate of Pisgah High School in Canton and enrolled at NC State University in the fall of 2007. His father was an employee of Blossman Gas in Chandler and was catastrophically injured on the job by a propane explosion in 1998. Due to burns and a head injury that results in unpredictable seizures, his father will not be able to return to gainful employment. Chad will major in Agriculture and is working toward a degree in Livestock and Poultry Management. While in High School, Chad worked as an intern at Mountain Research Station, a research center of the NC Department of Agriculture. He was also a volunteer with the Junaluska Fire Department while working part time at Ingles Markets. Chad has also worked at a volunteer on a mission trip to assist the disadvantaged and volunteers locally to build handicapped ramps for the disabled. Chad was supported during the application process by his church pastor who describes him as having high moral character who will go far in life and benefit the community in which he lives. The superintendent at the Research Station relates that Chad has characteristics of honesty and an integrity and is a truly outstanding young man. Back to Scholarships |
